About the artist

Grzegorz Nagórski – jazz trombonist , euphonium player, composer. His professional debut took place at the Jazz Piano Festival in Kalisz in 1982 with Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski. Between 1990 and 1995 he studied and performed in Miami and New York. At that time, he worked with multi-instrumentalist Ira Sullivan’s Inner Outer Continental Quintet, and performed with Ray Charles, Tito Puente, Joe Henderson , Jimmy Heath, Michael Brecker, Maria Schneider, Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Arturo Sandoval, Charlie Persip Super Big Band;, John Fedchock and Red Rodney.

Since 1996 Grzegorz Nagórski has been voted “The Best Jazz Trombonist” in the Jazz Top readers’ poll in Jazz Forum European Magazine. He is also very active as a teacher, being an associate professor at the Institute of Jazz at the Academy of Music in Katowice.

Grzegorz Nagórski recorded over 40 albums and was a multi-nominee and 2009 Jazz Phonographic Newcomer of the Year award winner. After a well-received acoustic albums: „Dedication” and „Over and Over” albums, he recorded a new project called „Grzegorz Nagórski Euphonium Quartet – Goes Electric”( Grzegorz Nagórski – – euphonium, Paweł Tomaszewski – k, Michał Barański – b, Paweł Dobrowolski – d). New album will be released in early 2017. The music presented by this band is based on groovy, carefully arranged and structured compositions, where the written-out sections hold a perfect balance with improvisations.
